SCULPTRA
Beverly Hills & Los Angeles
Sculptra is a long-lasting dermal filler formulated with poly-l-lactic acid to restore facial volume. Unlike other fillers that merely diminish the symptoms of facial aging, Sculptra is designed to address the underlying cause: loss of collagen. By stimulating the growth of collagen, Sculptra can deliver anti-aging results that last two years or more. Sculptra is just one of the safe and effective fillers used by Dr. Ashkan Ghavami and his team.
WOULD I BENEFIT FROM SCULPTRA INJECTIONS?
Sculptra may help improve your facial appearance if you have lost volume in any of the following areas:
- cheeks
- mid-face region
- under the eyes (in the hollows of the eyes)
- temples
- jawline
Sculptra is also used to fill in deep nasolabial folds, (i.e., the lines extending from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth), chin wrinkles and marionette lines (i.e., the lines framing the mouth). It helps to reinforce the thickness of the skin for a smooth and firm texture.
Note that Sculptra should not be used on any areas with active infection or inflammation. Also, it is not suitable for individuals that are prone to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.

SCULPTRA TREATMENT DETAILS
Sculptra is an FDA-approved product that is biocompatible and biodegradable. It is made from a synthetic material similar to that used in dissolvable stitches and soft tissue implants. Sculptra is normally tolerated very well and therefore allergy testing is not needed. Eventually the body naturally absorbs the poly-l-lactic acid.
Prior to treatment, the injection points are mapped out. The appropriate amount of Sculptra is identified and then small amounts of the filler are injected into the deep dermis in the targeted area. Once injected, Sculptra triggers the growth of new collagen to replace that which has been lost. The remodeled collagen strands then help to reinforce the skin structure and fill in folds and lines for plump, smooth skin. After the injections are finished, an ice pack should be applied to the treated area to reduce swelling.
SCULPTRA RECOVERY AND RESULTS
Serious side effects with Sculptra are rare. Some patients develop redness, tenderness, bruising or itching around the injection site. Normal activities can be resumed almost immediately after treatment, although exposure to the sun should be avoided.
It is normal for results not to appear immediately after treatment. They develop gradually and subtly. In most cases, a series of several treatments (e.g., three over the course of three to four months) is needed to achieve the desired results with Sculptra. At that point, the results can last two years or longer.
The exact number of injections and appointments varies by patient, depending on the specific concern and severity of the problem.
